Halo: Combat Evolved. Then and now...

The Halo franchise has always been a great one (never mind ODST) because of the sheer effort put into each and every installment (never min ODST)
Halo has captivated fans through great gamplay, epic storytelling (never mind the ending of Halo 2) and eye popping visuals. Doubtless, the most memorable game in the series is of course: Halo Combat Evolved. It brought the dream of having a super cyborg alien kill lots and lots of other aliens with guns to life. Halo did some things to gaming which nobody had ever seen before and many have taken inspiration, or indeed fully copied from. The original is a lot of fun to play, no matter what time it may be, so bringing it forward into 2011 was an easy decision. Let's have a look at what Combat Evolved looked like back then, and then jump forward 10 years to what it looks like now.

Then:
Halo Combat Evolved on the XBox brought us a tale of alien warfare through space and a legendary ring that could end all life. You played as Master Chief, the last Spartan. When you get right down to it, Halo was about shooting your way through countless hoards of an Alien race. You fought them with weapons that had no bloom or kickback and some awesome vehicles like the warthog and the ghost. It added new features like health regeneration and gave us eargasms over the wonderful music. Halo also told a story like no other FPS game had ever done before. But the real appeal for Halo was indeed, the Multiplayer. Where do we start? Well, you picked a Spartan and fought it out on many match types spanning large maps. You had to search those maps for the wonderful power weapons and truly work as a team to win capture the flag. It brought gamers together like no other.

Now:
Combat Evolved Anniversary's single player is identical to that of the original's except for the new graphics. God, they're gorgeous. In fact, there is a button allowing you to change between old and new visual styles within a second. Funky. Aside from that, the game is exactly the same. Epic over powered pistol. Epic over powered rifle. Good times. The new features include a more fleshed out "firefight" game type and improved forge. The Multiplayer however, is exactly the same as that of Halo Reach, aside from the weapon bloom. That's right, there is no weapon bloom in Halo CE. Tell your friends.

  5. Weapon bloom...
    Okay, let's see.
Every time you fire, your gun, the target reticule increases in size, lowering your accuracy, therefore, doing less damage. If you spam the DMR, you won't be able to do much damage, but if you pace yourself with the trigger finger, you should be okay. Take a look:
