Happy New Year!

What a year 2011 was: great things happened...and some equally terrible things happened. But, this is a gaming blog, we need to dwell on the games. Gaming is about escapism, not reality, so let's get to it.
2011 saw the release of many games ending with the number 3. Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, MW3, Gears of War 3, Saints Row the Third and some others. One of the biggest wars this year was the war between MW3 and Battlefield 3. As usual, COD sold millions of copies more than Battlefield, but something was different. Critics always used to give MW3 ridonkculously high scores, but this time around, the general score dropped somewhat significantly. So, COD may have sold more, but critically, Battlefield won the match. My personal favourite non Skyward Sword game came out in November: BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY!! OMG WHAT AN AMAZING GAME OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! Portal 2 also made many fans jump for joy and Assassin's Creed: Revelations did the Call of Duty thing again like in Brotherhood (release an expansion as opposed to a new game) But possibly the biggest thing to hit gaming this year was the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. With hundreds of Hours of gameplay and a gigantic world to roam around in, it took game of the year with ease. Still, Skyward Sword is better.
So gamers, what will you be playing this year?

A small puzzle for the new year

So yeah, just a small puzzle for the new year. Can you name the seven game cover merged together to form this image?

Moar Arkham City DLC

If you're in the know, Batman has had a lot of DLC as of late, but still no campaign add on's >:-(. So, if you want the DLC, your best off buying the twin packs of "Arkham Bundle" and "Challenge Map Pack"
The Arkham bundle contains everything from the Robin pack, the Nightwing pack and the Skins pack costing 1,200 Microsoft points ($24 PS3/PC)

The other DLC is the Challenge Map Pack, containing Joker's Carnival, the Iceberg Lounge and a completely new Map: The Batcave. (Aww yeah!) This costs 240 Microsoft points ($5 PS3/PC) BUT STILL NO CAMPAIGN DLC!!

The last DLC is a free costume, containing the classic look of Batman. Download and enjoy!
Rocksteady have also released a cheat code to let people play in their favourite skins before unlocking new game plus: To activate the unlock, you just press the following combo on the Main Menu screen: Left, Left, Down, Down, Left, Left, Right, Up, Up, Down.
Make sure that your save slot is selected to make this happen.

Infinity blade

The first thing i have to say about infinity blade is that it is full of win and it is now my favourite app. Infinity blade an action game in which you try to avenge your father by killing an evil guy called the god king, it's really explained why he's evil, or what he does that's bad but you do see him killing the main character's father, that, and his evil laugh is pretty damn convincing. You start off with weapons that are completely terrible and slowly make your character look extremely awesome by buying or finding him epic gear. A feature that i think might be completely unique to infinity blade is that as you fight your way through the god king's castle and you die, meh it's cool, you can go back before the fight or just restart the entire run, if your not happy with how things are going. BUUUUUUUUT should you die while fighting the god king himself, that's it, your guy is dead, gone frever. It then goes to the opening shot of your guy looking at the castle and says 18 years later (it's not always 18 years it varies form 'bout 18-22). So every failed attempt on the god king means that protagonist's son goes into battle. The game's soundtrack is orchestral and great, it always matches the mood and it isn't dull or repetitive. Visually it is the best app i have seen, the graphics are just amazing, i wish more apps looked like this. When you trek up through the castle there are multiple routes you can take so it doesn't get boring, but when you do get to the top floor you are greeted by batman and the god king. I kid you not, the second last guy you fight will always be a dude called the dark knight(the big guy pictured above), which i found hilarious and slightly inaccurate as he's actually pretty easy to kill, oh well, at least he looks awesome. After you kill him, the god king (the guy chillin' on a throne in the background) gets up brutally murders you and sits back down. As you go up the castle as you would expect the evil randoms that want to kill you get stronger and stronger, but also each generation they get stronger, keeping the game challenging and interesting. I like the pace that they level the enemies up at, it stops you from ever thinking that the enemies are too weak and makes almost every battle difficult. With the sword fighting it's a little unfair, pretty much every enemy you see will be bigger than you and do waaaaaaaaay more more damage than you do with each hit. You can't just attack, you have to either block, dodge or parry his blows until you get a block/dodge/parry break, then you can try to get as many hits in as possible before the enemy recovers. to get one of the "breaks" you have to black dodge or parry on the last move of one of the enemies combos, blocking is the easiest and gives you barely any time to attack, because all you have to is press a button. Dodging is a bit hard, because you can dodge left or right, but most attacks will hit you if you dodge to the wrong side and you also have to get the timing right. Parrying is by far the hardest of the three but gives you a lot more time than the other two do. To parry you have to swing your sword in the exactly same direction as they do at the exact same time. The game is a bit unforgiving with parrying and im pretty awful at infinity blade so i just pretty much always stick to dodging. The game seems to have very little flaws, things like how it's quite a big app and you might need to get rid of some stuff if your ipod is a bit full. Also it lags out if you get a 20% battery left message for some reason. While traveling through the castles the only enemy whose level does not get higher each time you play is the god kings, he starts at level 50, and after you beat him goes up to level 100. I would say that the god king is a bit over powered, but i guess thats how he is meant to be, when i was fighting the level 100 god king he did a three hit combo to me that was too fast for me to stop and also did 1000 damage. The thing i like about infinity blade is how even when you die fighting the king you know that when you fight him next you will be stronger and have a better chance of beating him.

Just recently infinity blade two was released, i don't have it yet but if it is as good as the first one it will definitely be worth it. There was also a book called infinity blade:awakening which is meant to "bridge the gap between the two games" or something, written by the greatest author ever, Brandon Sanderson. The only problem is, i think you have to buy it on ebooks or something anyway, infinity blade is a great app, well worth it's price in my opinion.

Dark Souls

A while ago, a game came out that was defined by one thing. Death. The game was called Demon's Souls and it was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very hard. Now, the sequel is out. No, it's not called Demon's Souls 2, but rather Dark Souls. Similar to the first game, it is extremely difficult, but it also has a very powerful cult following. I may be about to join that cult. Demon's Souls never really clicked with me, but Dark Souls just looks...really fun. I also want a challenge from a game. It's been a while since I've been pushed to the limit from a game and I really want to be able to say that I beat a game as hard as Dark Souls. I know virtually nothing about the game though, other than it looks good, and that it is very hard and how to get the Drake's Blade. But we'll see. Sometimes when I play a game and die, I'm really annoyed (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes) but in others, I'm fine with it. I don't mind death as long as I don't have to spend ages getting back to where I was. In some games, I'm almost glad that I died. It means that next time, I have a better understanding of the threat I'm up against and can beat it more solidly.

The New Amazing Spider-Man trailer

The new trailer is out, and I must say, I have very mixed feelings about it. First, watch it for yourself:

Now that we're done, here's my analysis of the trailer. First off, it seems to have gone backwards from the realism that was present in the leaked trailer. Many fans were excited about that, but it looks like the devs have gone crazy and created flying machines that want to destroy everything. That brings me to my next point. The Spider-Man universe has so many wonderful villains, so why choose giant evil robots? Why not choose a villain who would be perfectly suited to the real world? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is just one aspect of the game, the robots that it, but if it isn't, I don't want to be mashing buttons to punch bits of metal all day. Also, it's such a cliche. Robots malfunction and attack the city. Argh. I'm terrified of this shocking new disturbance that I never saw coming at all for one second. The last negative thing I have to say about this is the graphics. They look pretty feeble to be honest. But, that's probably because the game isn't finished yet. Now, on the positive side, I loved the presentation of the trailer. A news report is a really clever idea and the actress does a good job. The second thing, the city. Gee it makes me want to put on spandex and swing around for a while stopping crimes wherever I turn. I think it's the most visually interesting of all the open world Spider-Man games. The last thing I liked, was the way it made Spider-Man seem like a hero. One lone person, trying to fight an unstoppable monstrosity with absolutely no chance of success, and yet he's still fighting. But for now, the Amazing Spider-Man is not on my waiting list. I'll wait for reviews plskthx.

Halo: Combat Evolved Review

I remember those days. Playing XBox with my buddy back at his house until we decided that we needed sleep to survive. Of course, the only game we ever played was Halo. We spent ages on that campaign, trying desperately to defeat the armies of Aliens. I remember those happy days, shooting Flood with shotguns, spamming that assault rifle, gunning in the back of the warthog in that final Warthog run, the laughter when we saw Sergent Johnson hug that Elite and the disappointment of seeing Chief take his helmet off, only to be blocked by a part of the ship. but, that was 10 years ago (more or less) And playing Combat Evolved nowadays feels difference to what is was. For starters, I'm playing on Mac. While the controls are fine, give me a controller any day. I was glad I was able to customize the controls, otherwise I don't think I'd be able to have kept playing it for long. Anyway, I like the graphics a lot actually. Despite the age, it's pretty well done for its time. But the only problem I have with it is that the world feels too much like planet Earth. Halo is an immense Megastructure, not our spinning blue ball. The environments look as though they were ripped from the countryside. I may be picky, but I've played Metroid Prime and seen what gaming has to offer alien locals. Anyhoo, as a regular player of Halo Reach, (my personal favourite Halo game, I was a little taken aback by what the game did, or didn't do. There were so few weapons that I almost felt lonely. I rarely differed from the combo of the Assault rifle and the Pistol, unless I had to. Not only that, the guns feel so overpowered that they're all you really need. I also miss the Armour Abilities. If I was "stuck" in reach, I had a chance of survival thanks to my trusty Armour lock, but in Combat Evolved, there is an agonising few seconds as you realiase and accept "Oh. Dead man walking" I hate that feeling. While that Campagin is heaps of fun, I do have to take breaks every now and then, because I occasionally feel as though I'm doing the same thing over and over. Still, maybe it isn't fair comparing it to Reach, but then again, it's hard not to. I enjoyed Combat Evolved and I do recommend it to anyone.
(Note: The multiplayer is broken in the Mac version, so there's not going to be any news on that)

Halo: Combat Evolved (original)

I have got mah hands on a copy of Halo: Combat Evolved for Mac, which means I can now play it without the lag and poor graphics of my HP PC. I remember the days...blasting those darn aliens, flying banshees, the warthog run, all priceless memories back in 2001. But, how does it hold up today? There are many things that Halo did differently from other shooters back in the day. It was the first FPS not to make you holster your weapon before throwing a grenade or using a melee attack, vehicles in the middle of battle, large firefight fields and of course, no recoil or weapon bloom to speak of. Nowadays, a lot of the new and revolutionary things the first Halo game did are taken for granted in all modern FPS games. Personally, I'm not really considering the anniversary edition of the classic game, because I could just get my multiplayer fix on Reach and play the campaign on mah Mac, but we'll see how it goes.

The Amazing Spider-Man expectations.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a game coming out around the same time as the movie. Luckily, the game has already been in development for a while. This should hopefully back the movie tie in game trend as most movie games have to be released near the movie's release to rake in the green. Unfortunately, this deadline often means that the games can't be fully crafted and don't have all that much effort put into them because of limited time. Beenox has this time however begun work on the game and have decided (since the movie isn't out yet and the plot isn't detailed) to make it take place after the events of the movie so that an original story can be worked on and the game doesn't feel rushed. Although this is all well and good, there are many things about this game that I want to be done that weren't in the other Spider-Man games. Here is my list of things I want from the Amazing Spider-Man:

Realistic Graphics: No Spider-Man game has fully captured the feeling of a realistic Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 was released on consoles that didn't have the power to do so and Spider-Man 3 was...ugh. Although the graphics for Shattered Dimensions were good, they weren't realistic. I just want to fully be able to imagine that the person on screen could be swinging around in a real New York and that he looked like he was a real character.
Physics: I want the web swinging to have some real weight behind it, like in Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man. No double jumps, so gravity defying mid-air combos (although ariel attacks should be included) and fall damage should make a return.
Rewarding Combat: The combat in Shattered Dimensions made each Spider-Man feel interesting to play, but now I want a really deep and fleshed out fighting system, as deep as the Rocksteady Batman games, if not deeper. Web should really be a part of the combat, not just the movement, it's his trademark, it should be Spidey's main weapon.
Camera: MAKE IT WORK!
Difficulty: I want this game to challenge me. Make me come out of each fight knowing that I beat them because I used my talents, not because I pressed some buttons.

That's what I want. Beenox. You know what to do.

its all over man!

well, the day of judgement has sadly arrived. Modern warfare three has been released. *SHUDDERS* to me, this marks the end of an era. the end of zombies. THE ONLY GOOD THING IN CALL OF DOODIE! mw3 may have survival, but its just not the same! so i'm making this post in memory of one of the best "minigames" i have ever played.
fare thee well, zombies. fare thee well...
a list of the good (and a few average) zombies maps
Nacht der untoten (the original)
Verruckt (the first dlc mappack for world at war)
Shi no Numa (... rather difficult but still fun)
Der Reise (my favourite map that i NEVER GOT TO PLAY ON A CONSOLE JUST ON IPOD!)
Kino der toten (dont ask me, ask the guy who got to round 115. NO JOKE!)
FIVE (hard. VERY DIFFICULT!)
dead ops (no. just no)
ascension (yes. just yes)
call of the dead (Celebrity map!)
shangri la (yeah... rather difficult)
Moon (IM_FREAKING_POSSIBLE! one of the most intense maps evah!)

Are we getting lazy?

As game developers, their job is to provide the players with a fun, fresh and interesting experience (apparently the COD devs never got the message) But recently, there is a trend of...copping out, shall we say? As I  said, Call of Duty will sell millions of copies, even if they don't change the gameplay (which they don't) This is becoming a common tactic these days. This franchise is so popular that no matter what we do, it will sell. Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed do this quite a lot. Another sign of laziness is unnecessary relaunches. Nintendo released all three original Mario games on the Wii, but in fact, they just re-released the same compilation package that they did on the SNES. Even the menu's had SNES buttons on it. Halo is re-releasing the same game they did in 2001 with the same single player as Combat Evolved and the same Multiplayer as Reach. Not very incentive. Re-releasing games can be a cool tactic, but if that becomes the normal selling point for game devs, we'll be in an industry where nothing moves forward at all and we'll be doing the same things we did 20 years ago.

Minecraft fans should watch this

I know very well of the broken music disc in 1.9 pre 2. but after having listened to it closely, people have heard, roughly, what the fleeing person says.

Batman Arkham City Costumes gameplay

Arkham City is the best game of 2011 so far (not including Skyward Sword since it isn't out yet) and it has many alternate costumes...not many of which you can get at the moment. Wait until December when all the suits are released, but for now, here are the alternate suits in action:
Sinestreo Corp Batman
Batman Beyond
The Dark Knight Returns Batman
The Animated Series Batman
1970's Batman
Earth One Batman
Year One Batman
Sorry for using IGN, I know they suck...

DC Universe Online

A freaking AWESOME MMO is now free to play. Yes, that's right, DCUO is now free to play for PS3 and PC. If you aren't in the know, DCUO is a game where you make your own superhero (or villain) and exist in the world with other heroes and villains. Most will be those of other players, but you will also interact with iconics such as Batman, Superman, the Flash and Green Lantern. (These are the coolest DC heroes I could think of. But, that's not saying much. Batman is awesome but the rest of these guys are pretty dull. Well, compared to Marvel anyway...)
It is awesome, but didn't receive much attention or critical acclaim, so it is now free to play. Basically, play it! I will once I install bootcamp and all...
More info on DCUO later...

Halo: Combat Evolved. Then and now...

The Halo franchise has always been a great one (never mind ODST) because of the sheer effort put into each and every installment (never min ODST)
Halo has captivated fans through great gamplay, epic storytelling (never mind the ending of Halo 2) and eye popping visuals. Doubtless, the most memorable game in the series is of course: Halo Combat Evolved. It brought the dream of having a super cyborg alien kill lots and lots of other aliens with guns to life. Halo did some things to gaming which nobody had ever seen before and many have taken inspiration, or indeed fully copied from. The original is a lot of fun to play, no matter what time it may be, so bringing it forward into 2011 was an easy decision. Let's have a look at what Combat Evolved looked like back then, and then jump forward 10 years to what it looks like now.

Then:
Halo Combat Evolved on the XBox brought us a tale of alien warfare through space and a legendary ring that could end all life. You played as Master Chief, the last Spartan. When you get right down to it, Halo was about shooting your way through countless hoards of an Alien race. You fought them with weapons that had no bloom or kickback and some awesome vehicles like the warthog and the ghost. It added new features like health regeneration and gave us eargasms over the wonderful music. Halo also told a story like no other FPS game had ever done before. But the real appeal for Halo was indeed, the Multiplayer. Where do we start? Well, you picked a Spartan and fought it out on many match types spanning large maps. You had to search those maps for the wonderful power weapons and truly work as a team to win capture the flag. It brought gamers together like no other.

Now:
Combat Evolved Anniversary's single player is identical to that of the original's except for the new graphics. God, they're gorgeous. In fact, there is a button allowing you to change between old and new visual styles within a second. Funky. Aside from that, the game is exactly the same. Epic over powered pistol. Epic over powered rifle. Good times. The new features include a more fleshed out "firefight" game type and improved forge. The Multiplayer however, is exactly the same as that of Halo Reach, aside from the weapon bloom. That's right, there is no weapon bloom in Halo CE. Tell your friends.

Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3

This year, there have been so many stellar game releases with so many more to come. Ocarina of Time 3D, Arkham City, Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D Land, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Mario Kart 7, Uncharted 3, Gears 3 and Skyrim just to name a few.
Then, there come the games which, no matter what, the hype always sells, no matter what the quality. These games are (in my mind) Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. (So many 3's...)
The big battle occurs between Battlefield and COD. Camping vs quickscoping. Jets vs dual scopes. As the Marvel Civil war once said: "Whose side are you on?"
Me, neither. Why are we waiting for them when Halo is just around the corner? Or better yet, why not go and play Arkham City? But, if I had to pick a side, it would have to be Battlefield. There have actually been improvements to the game, not just re-releasing the same thing over and over. In the new game, there are vehicles, destructible environments, maps that hold up to 64 players and warthogs...oh wait...
Anyway, MW3 is merely another cash in. There is nothing different at all from this title from the other Modern Warfare games, aside from the dual scopes. There, that's my opinion. Now can we please stop playing COD and go play some slayer?

Nightwing

Once, the Dark Knight saw himself in a young boy. He took that boy under his wing and taught him everything he knew. The boy became a dork. Eventually, after shedding the image of Robin, the Boy Wonder grew up and became his own hero. That boy was Richard Greyson. Nightwing. The Nightwing DLC comes out tomorrow on November 1st. Will you answer the signal?

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions review.

Developer Beenox have been given full control of the Spider-Man licence and have so far created two games and are working on a third. The first of these is Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. A game which changes a few things for the genre and removes many of the problems of past games. However, it fails to reach Arkham City greatness thanks to a few issues.

To begin, the story is a little uninspired. Basically, in a fight between Spidery and Mysterio, the tablet of Order and Chaos is shattered, causing dimensions to fall apart. The fragments of the tablet must be recovered by four different Spider-Men. There's the Amazing Spider-Man, who's got some pretty handy web attacks and specializes in acrobatic combat. Spider-Man Noir, who is a stealthy wall-crawler that uses the shadows to his advantage. Spider-Man 2099 has the fastest combat, some free falling sections and a handy ability which slows down time called spider-reflexes...I mean accelerated vision. And last but not least, there's Ultimate Spider-Man, who is the tank of the four. He dishes out the most damage and has flailing tentacles thanks to the black suit. Expect to be swarmed in the Ultimate universe. All these Spider-Men remove the repetitive gameplay that plagued many of the web-slinger's adventures thanks to the sheer variety in combat styles. However, the story is dull. Here it is summed up in one sentence: Spider-Man fights chases a villain throughout the level to retrieve the tablet. Luckily, the graphics make up for the lackluster story. Each world looks different from the other and really suits the style of Spider.

Gameplay is strong. You fight as the Amazing Spider-Man using acrobatic, web-based attacks, 2099 using extremely fast paced brawling, launching and jumping attacks and Ultimate by hitting everything in sight. Ultimate makes you feel like a powerhouse, smashing everything, hitting hard and yet still being a small, lanky teenager with surprising agility. The immense power you feel makes up for the lack of strategy involved. Noir is the Spider-Man that feels different from the rest. Guns to a lot of damage in the Noir universe, so remaining in the shadows is imperative. You spend a lot of time assessing when and where to do takedowns, which bring an enemy down in one hit. Try charging in all macho and buff, you will take too much damage and go down. This is cool, but it not fully fleshed out. For one, the thugs have set patrol paths, so it's not as strategic as Arkham Asylum/City and it also exposes the game's major problem. The camera. It is especially tricky to move on the wall. But, it isn't game destroying, just really, really, really irritating. When fighting with the other universes, you string together light and heavy attacks. It is possible to button mash your way through, but this game it about making your own fun with the combat. You can buy upgrades to the combo's by completing challenges, which unlock more upgrades and give you points. You can beat up the bad guys with merely using the same button, or you can choose to hit him with a tentacle, launch him into the air, hit him again, throw him into the ground and then land a kick into him and oh, so much more.
The boss battles are also really fun and have a feeling of epicness. Each boss is fun to engage and battle, but this two opens up another problem. The game is just too easy. Overall, it is fun, just not hugely challenging. There is one other thing I would like to say. GLITCHES GALORE! But, that shouldn't put you off too much.
Get back here with my 3DS!

Shattered Dimensions is a great choice for fans of Spider-Man, or newcomers looking to discover the character, just don't expect anything ground-breaking.

DOCTOR

Watch this

4evs, you may delete this post when the doc has seen it.

Batman Arkham City first gameplay impressions.

I thought today would be pretty suckish. After leaving my at four, I went to a nearby EB games to grab a copy of Edge of Time for 3DS. There were none. I was pretty annoyed at this. So, I caught a bus home...well, almost. A fight broke out on the bus between a man and a woman, so the bus driver called assault and we had to be ushered off to catch a new bus. After finally getting on another one, I eventually got off at my stop and had to wait AGAIN for the next bus to take me home. Midway through, I changed my mind and let the bus drop me at "the village" shopping centre to have another look for Edge of Time. STILL NOTHING! It was at this point things started to turn around. While I couldn't get Edge of Time, I did pre-order the legendary edition of Skyward Sword (the guy at the desk said: "But I just did that for everyone!") Meanwhile, a noob was playing Arkham City in the store. I watched and waited. Eventually, when Boy Blunder finally got tired of trying to solve the riddle of "If noise is from the soul, then music must be from the heart" (or something like that) he got off. I'm going: Well done Dork Knight, let me show you how it's done, and pick up the controller. Two things immediately grabbed my attention. The first of these being that I was out of practise. I hadn't played Arkham City in a while... The second: THE GAME %&#$ING ROCKED! OH MY GOD, IT'S AMAZING!
It feels similar, but at the same time, so new. The gliding and flight mechanics are the best ever and there are new "quick fire options" for gadgets. I was worried about these before playing the game, I thought they would be clunky and hard to use. Not so, they are as simple as: hold L1 and tap face button. It feels smooth and natural, but most of all, it feels like Batman. I want nothing more than to play this game, but I will have to wait. But I can wait. Besides, there are Metroids that need exterminating...
The videos do three things
1.) Proves IGN are noobs
2.) Shows of Bronze age Batman
3.) Makes Boy Wonder haters cringe.

The Amazing Spider-Man.

When it comes to games, Spider-Man hasn't always had the best of luck. After some well loved games on the PS1 and some cool open world style games like Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man, the Web Slinger has found it hard to win over critics and fans with his games. Luckily, 2010 saw the birth of Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. This was finally something to be excited over, a good Spider-Man game, received well by reviewers and fans. However, many players wanted to return to the open world of New York. And now, with the upcoming movie, Spider-Man is back in the big apple. I know what you're thinking (movie game...shudder) but hear me out. This game will have a longer time to develop than most movie games do since it takes place after the movie and won't be as rushed to match the movie's story. Is the mixed reception of Edge of Time about to be replaced with a truly ground-breaking Spider-Man experience? Only time will tell, but the fans who viewed it are actually pretty excited. But will Beenox do to Spider-Man what Rocksteady did to Batman?

Why I prefer Halo 3 to Halo Reach

ill say it now, i do not dislike reach. Reach is TOTALY FRICKIN AWESOME, but i prefer Halo 3, thats all.
Anyway, time to get to the "why" part.
Halo 3's campaign. nuff said.
lol jokes, thats not enough. Halo 3's campaign, to me, is just astounding. While reach is amazing, 3 gives me the urge to travel into space, find some giant monkeys with hammers, and fill them with lead. Then theres the music. My GAWD!
anyone whos played this game knows that halo 3 had an unbelivably EPIC sountrack. Now, reach did as well... but reach didn't have this

exactly.
now, reach's soundtrack was also, muoi fantastico, to me it was just not as good as halo 3's.

Multiplayer.
personally, im not much of a multiplayer deathmatch kind of person. Im the kind of gamer who likes doing co-op stuffs. Halo 3 has a co-op campaign. So does reach. But does reach let player 2 be the Arbiter?
No. Not really.
another thing. who would you rather have driving/gunning on the final mission? an A.I?
Or your buddy in elite form?
(or sgt johnson).

Halo 3's traditional multiplayer. well, in the case of multiplayer match making, i prefer Halo reach. seeing as its far easier to defend yourself in reach, what with armor abilities and whatnot, i prefer it.
i just prefer the Halo 3 campaign, music and co-op.

Stuff

So, i have been thinking, i've decided that i should probably make a larger contribution to the blog. Whats that you say? "Terfle, you already make such an amazing and huge contribution already" well i know, but i've decided to step it up. Beginning at a time that is so far unspecified i will begin to make weekly posts, and proper actual posts, not just ones with one sentence and a youtube video attached. I already have a few ideas for stuff, oh, and i wont be making one for each blog, just one each week. Unfortunately schoolwork is just way, way too overwhelming to start doing this now, but when i eventually do, i will tell you all. Who knows, maybe once i get a minecraft code, me and the doc can review adventure maps or something, or maybe me and 4evs can do more app reviews or something. I wanna find more stuff that we can do together, so if anyone has any ideas, please tell me. Whats that you say "I lied before, you make little to no contribution, and i cant help but wonder why you still have posting rights" well to that i say, why dont you write it down on a piece of paper, tear it up and shut your face. There, problem solved.

Arkham City extras

If you aren't already dribbling all over your shirt from excitement of the near release of Arkham city on 360 and PS3 on November 19 and the release of it on Wii U next year, then here are some more reasons.

Playable characters: Most people would be content with merely playing as the caped crusader, but wait, there's more! As well as the Dark Knight, Catwoman has been revealed as a playable character in both challenge maps and the campaign. If that wasn't enough, the Boy Wonder himself is appearing in Arkham City in several challenge map DLC's. Yes, Robin is in Arkham City and perhaps for the first time in his whole life, Tim Drake is actually cool.

Oh, but that's not the end of it. Yes folks, the original Robin has made land in Arkham City along with several challenge maps. One of which is the house he grew up in. Wayne Manor. Yes ladies and gentlemen. Nightwing has freakin' arrived.

I  can't wait to play as 1970's Bats
Extra Costumes: An often used hook for super-hero games (especially for DLC's and Pre-Orders) is the alternate costumes. Nerds often have to take a few moments to regain breath after seeing alternate suits and Arkham City has a lot.

Watch out for the one on the right
Oh, and the bird boy gets some new threads as well:

arkham city easter eggs on the youtubes

There are a few videos that the two of you may want to watch, they come up and annotations in youtube videos and i found two of them before actually realising what they are. They are easter eggs for the game arkham city, a game im sure the two of you cant wait for. I only watched the first one, i assume they are all audio only videos of some interesting events.

So here are the links

Terfle

Another point of view for the great Halo War

A while ago, I asked the impossible question. Halo 3 or Halo Reach? Since there's just the three of us, I decided to bring in another opinion. But before I tell you his opinion, let me say that for now, the blog has come to a standstill with the debate. I prefer Reach while the Doctor prefers 3 and Terfle has no say in the matter yet. So, here's the guy's opinion. He is an avid Halo player having owned every Halo except for Halo 2 and is currently at the rank of "Hero" in Reach. Here we go:
"First of all, there's firefight. Reach's version is so much better than ODST's because the customization is limitless. And you've got all these great maps and modes right? Halo 3 didn't even have firefight. Next off, forge. Reach is way better, you can phase objects into each other, so you can make pretty much anything. And look at the graphics. They're just so much better than Halo 3's. And, with the multiplayer, you've got these great maps and modes as well as much better playlists. And the amour abilities just make the game more fun and more unpredictable. Single player's pretty much the same though, they're both pretty fun, but with Reach, it gets harder when you have more people, so it makes it more rewarding. And the armoury is just great. it's your spartan. Not just another Master Chief. When you go into multiplayer, you don't change. It's still your spartan"

That's his opinion. Who's next?

Another one for you, doc

i thought this video was pretty interesting, and it tells you the reason why endermen are called what they are.

Combat evolved: Anniversary- The bells and whistles

whilst checking out the interwebs, i came across this. a demo of the new Combat evolved game.
Watch the video first

Things that i have to say about this, it is exactly the same as it was 10 years ago, but prettier.
in fact, as the video will explain, you can actually set it to what it looked like 10 years ago!
i think we have another masterpiece on our hands...

Yes, I just did that

I started a war between Halo 3 and Halo Reach. I am not sure it will ever end...
Anyhoo, here are some differences between the two that may help you decide. his video is a little out of date, since it was taken during the Halo Reach Beta, but it is still relevant.

Voice chat stuff

After playing Halo Reach online with the voice chat, I can honestly say that it is completely stupid. Not one sentence I heard from the other players didn't have a swear word in it. God, people can be stupid sometimes...

An invitation!

I, 4EVER, have been invited to the Gotham City Imposter's beta which will be up in a while. The only way to gain access to the beta was to ask for an invite. And I just so happened to get one. It's not up yet, so you may have to wait a while, but rest assure, I will have a lowdown on GCI after I have played the beta for a while.

The Doctor Plays: HALO: combat evolved

I recently obtained a copy of the original halo game and all i can say is ZOMG! this game is utterly amazing and i've only played through the first level! ah yes, nothing better than the halo 1 pistol. anyway, down to the nitt gritty stuffs. Graphics: this game was made 10 years ago, so i wasn't expecting anything amazing. still, some of the best 10 year old graphics i have seen. Gameplay: as I have the PC version, I cannot make a general statement, but the controls are a bit difficult to get used to. Music: its Halo.... Story: it was the campaign of the decade for a reason. Anyway, i'll put up more stuff as i progress, and maybe a "letsplay" (if i can figure out how to record gameplay footage).

Arkham City gameplay

Even more gameplay for Arkham City. Looks awesome, but I still don't like the sexual tension from Catwoman. Seems to me like they're trying to squeeze sex appeal out of video game characters, not a good tactic. But still, the game seems darker and cooler than Arkham Asylum ever was.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I AM AMAZING

Months ago 4ever issued a challenge for people to find a permadeath game, well i have done it, and am there fore amazing. Whats that you say 'finding an easy game to find several months after a challenge is issued does not make you amazing', lies i say.

And so i give you http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/

Its pretty fun, i've played it a little, though not a great amount. It's basically a Co-op mmo permadeath game. You start off as a wizard, you then unlock the preist if you can reach level 5 on the wizard without dying, if you reach level five with the priest you then unlock the archer and it goes on. What suprises me about this game is how permadeath is so central to it. To change classes you have to die, then you are awarded fame points for how well you did and spend them in this heaven place which you go to each time you start a new adventure. Unfortunately it seemed quite laggy to me, this could have just been me, but anyway it is very fun and different to a normal game where dieing has little to no consequences.

A Batman game that isn't quite Batman

Crazy? You bet. Fun? Looks like it.
I am generally not a fan of FPS game, with the notable exceptions of GoldenEye, Metroid Prime and Halo (who isn't a fan of halo?) But this game is a little different. It's called: Gotham City Imposter's. Remember the beginning of The Dark Knight? Batman had to subdue a bunch of gun wielding goons dressed as the caped crusader himself. They were trying to protect the city in his image, but with all the wrong ideas. This is an online Multiplayer only shooter which has caught my interest and I hope it delivers.

apps i'm playing- terfle

It's an undeniable fact of life that i should make more posts, i should but i really don't. So here is one of those rare occurrences where i actually do make one.

Tiny Tower, this would probably be the best free app i have seen, it is very addictive and best of all, you do not need to make in app purchases at all. The game revovles around you, building a tower and generating money. You basically control everything about the tower, who lives in your tower, what the floors will be used for, who gets a job where, that sort of stuff. The game itself looks a bit complicated but is actually quite simple, you build residential floors to house bitizens (dev pun), then build shops for them to work in so that you can make money to build more floors. It is surprisingly fun, and it keeps going while you aren't playing it, which is good for when you want to sell lots and not have to watch. Each Bitizen has a dream job and if you get them their dream job then they will give you all kinds of bonuses. If you are very lazy and have plenty of itunes credit then you can use it to get money, but it is by no means essential.

Pocket God, this app is one of the biggest on the app store, it has been going for a huge amount of time and remains being awesome, something not many games can claim. Every time it updates i seem to find myself playing it again, but this most recent update is different. Pocket God has many different mini games, but the newest one, battle of the gods is far bigger than the others, you have to fight using the idols you found last update, strangely though for some reason when i updated it gave me every idol, even the new one that you get this update. One of the things i like about Pocket God is that it lets you customize a fair bit, you can name yourself and each one of your pygmies, I named mine alphonse, algernon, alfonzo, pickles, jimmy and winston because those are the coolest names in existance.

Hard lines
Hard lines is an interesting game, it lets you play a few different games, like snake, that one in tron and several that they have though up them selves, to make it more interesting the lines make lots of jokes or witty comments that are usually actually funny. Most of the games focus on trying to make other lines hit you, while at the same time making sure that you don't hit any lines your self. Though there is one power up which makes your line flash red and you become invincible, your line then screams "IM CHUCK NORRIS". It is very entertaining and a smart idea for an app.
